Baby Highchairs

Baby Highchairs – Safe, Comfortable Feeding from Weaning to Toddler

Shop our range of baby highchairs – from first-stage weaning chairs to grow-with-me models that last from 6 months to school age. A good highchair brings your baby to table height for family mealtimes, supports safe and comfortable feeding, and makes weaning significantly easier for both parent and baby. Free UK delivery available. Trusted by UK families.

How to Choose the Right Highchair

Highchairs vary enormously in design, features, and longevity. Here's what to consider:

  • Age range – Most highchairs are suitable from 6 months (when baby can sit unaided) up to around 3 years. Some models extend to 5+ years with a booster or toddler seat conversion. If you want long-term value, look for a chair that grows with your child.
  • 5-point harness – Essential for safety. A 5-point harness (two shoulder straps, two waist straps, and a crotch strap) keeps your baby securely in the chair during mealtimes. Never use a highchair without a harness for a young baby.
  • Recline – Some highchairs offer a recline position for younger babies who can't yet sit fully upright. Useful if you want to start using the chair before 6 months for supported sitting.
  • Footrest – An adjustable footrest is important for older babies and toddlers. Research shows that having feet supported during mealtimes improves posture and reduces fidgeting.
  • Tray – A removable, dishwasher-safe tray makes cleaning significantly easier. Look for a tray that can be removed one-handed.
  • Compact & foldable – If space is limited, a foldable highchair or a clip-on chair that attaches to your dining table may be a better option.

Why Choose Our Baby Highchairs?

  • 5-point safety harness – Keeps baby secure throughout mealtimes
  • Adjustable height – Positions baby at the right height for your table
  • Removable dishwasher-safe tray – Easy to clean after every meal
  • Adjustable footrest – Supports correct posture as your child grows
  • Grow-with-me designs – Converts from highchair to toddler chair for long-term value
  • Safety certified – All models meet current UK and European safety standards

Frequently Asked Questions

Most highchairs are suitable from around 6 months, when your baby can sit upright unaided with good head and neck control. Starting solids (weaning) is also recommended at around 6 months by the NHS. Some highchairs offer a recline position that allows use from around 4–5 months for supported sitting, but always check the manufacturer's minimum age and weight guidance. Never place a baby in an upright highchair seat before they have sufficient core strength to hold themselves upright, as this can put strain on their developing spine.

The most important safety feature is a 5-point harness – two shoulder straps, two waist straps, and a crotch strap – which keeps your baby securely in the chair and prevents them from sliding down or climbing out. The chair should also have a stable, wide base that won't tip, and a crotch post or bar to prevent forward sliding. Look for a chair that meets current UK and European safety standards (EN 14988). Always use the harness for every mealtime, even as your child gets older and more mobile – toddlers can wriggle out of chairs very quickly.

The easiest highchairs to clean have a removable, dishwasher-safe tray, a wipe-clean seat pad or removable washable cover, and minimal crevices where food can get trapped. After every meal, remove the tray and wipe down the seat, harness, and frame. Wash the tray in the dishwasher or with hot soapy water. For a deeper clean, remove the seat pad or cover and wash according to the care label. Pay particular attention to the harness straps and buckles, which can harbour food residue – wipe with a damp cloth and allow to dry fully before use.
